A Place to Belong

We are Central Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) located at 220 Crawford Avenue in the Harrisburg Community in Augusta, Georgia.

Whether you are a long-time believer looking for a new church, or maybe you haven’t been in church for years, or you just have questions and are looking for answers and a place to belong, Central Christian Church welcomes you!

Central Christian Church was founded in 1882 and has served our Lord and our community ever since. We are a part of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We confess that Jesus is the Christ, the Son of the living God, and proclaim him Lord and Savior of the world. We support many missions in our neighborhood, historic Harrisburg, our city, our state, and beyond.

Our mission is to spread the good news of Jesus Christ in a loving, Christian family atmosphere, while maintaining the traditions of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ). We will reach out to the unchurched, serve those in need, teach the faithful, and encourage and provide opportunities for spiritual growth through effective discipleship.

Central is a community of good will where the differing convictions of its members are held in respect by all others. Where membership does not mean a regimentation of thought, but a common commitment to Christ, as God’s complete disclosure of Himself.

The music at Central is very traditional because our Worship Service consists mainly of the old Hymns that we all know and love! We partake of the Lord’s Supper, as was the custom of the early church, at every service. All who believe and confess faith in our savior, Jesus Christ, are welcome to the table of the Lord, regardless of church affiliation or membership.

Central Christian Church is located in Augusta, Georgia. The address is 220 Crawford Avenue in Augusta, GA. It is between Broad Street and Calhoun Expressway, not far away from the Kroc Center.

On Sunday mornings, coffee and snack fellowship begins at 9:45am. The transition into Sunday School begins at 10:00am. Our morning worship service starts at 10:55am.

We feel that you should dress in whatever makes you comfortable. There will be some people in blue jeans, some in slacks and a t-shirt, and some who will be dressed in their “Sunday Best”. Come as you are!

Our worship service typically lasts about an hour. We meet weekly in the Sanctuary for a traditional worship service. During the service, we read scripture, have a sermon, and partake in communion together weekly. Anyone who has accepted Jesus Christ as their savior is welcome to partake in communion.

No. We never pressure anyone to give. We are thankful that you chose Central as a place to worship. If you are called to give to support the church and its missions, you are certainly welcome to do so.

We invite our visitors to fill out a visitor’s card during their visit with us. We will touch basis with you through a follow-up phone call or letter in the mail to acknowledge your visit to the church. We will never knock on your door and we will not attempt to intrude on you. We always welcome visitors and any concerns they may have.
